Congrtulations on the 19th Anniversary of the Establishment of IEDG

Dear Teachers and Staff,

March returns to remind us of an important day nearly 20 years ago. The day when the foundations of IEDG were established, overcoming many twists and turns to stand firm and prosper as it does today.

Let’s take a look at how the world has changed over the last 20 years and determine the principle that proves the corporation’s accomplishment today…

Twenty years ago, people used to communicate using landlines and dial phones, but today smartphones are the most popular tools for communication.

At that time, 56 KB/s modems were just becoming popular; now, the average internet speed in the world is nearly 400 times faster, approaching 23 MB/s.

Back then, people’s memories were recorded through analog photos, but today there are only two shops of that kind in Saigon. Nowadays, 99 percent of images are digital photos, taken with smartphones. Analog photos appear to belong only to young people with nostalgic hobbies.

Then, the encyclopedia Britannica and Microsoft’s Encoder software were the go-to sources for information. Today, limitless information is available to the public via Wikipedia and numerous search engines.

When taking these changes into consideration, it is not so surprising that some of the largest companies and thriving industries of the past have ceased to exist today. Conversely, the last 20 years have given birth to a number of industries that no one would have thought of back then, such as Social Networks, Sharing Economy, E-commerce, Electric Vehicles, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Digital Marketing, or even Online Influencer Marketing and many more.

Over the last 20 years, we’ve seen industries perish and be replaced by new ones. And, over the next 20 years, we will undoubtedly witness even more unprecedented change.

What is one thing that doesn’t change?

Numerous industries have evolved to meet society’s ever-increasing demands. Only education has maintained and will continue to maintain its central purpose. It retains its essence as the most important and irreplaceable agent in the connection between people, civilizations and progression. The most significant change in education is the inception of the “student-centric” principle, now stronger than ever.

The lesson of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

Global progression does not emerge from a single field, but from the synthesis of many fields. Progress also does not come from a single moment, but from each moment combined. Over nearly 20 years, the corporation’s growth and prosperity have stemmed from a single philosophy: Slow and steady wins the race. That is how education operates. Learning does not happen overnight, nor does construction. For example, Jeff Bezos (the world’s richest man and the founder of Amazon) once asked Warren Buffett: “Your investing principles are very simple, and you are the second richest person in the world, so why don’t people imitate you?” “Because nobody wants to get rich slowly,” Buffett responded. It is impatience that obstructs human vision, rendering many of us incapable of seeing the compound interest of time and consistency.

Most members who come, go, or remain at IEDG never imagined they would be the ones to change the world. However, in reality, every action, in the past, present, and future, no matter how small, is a step toward the next generation’s ascent into the future, and the group’s success.

Despite the impact that Covid-19 has had on many aspects of our lives this and last year, we would like to thank every member for continuously being able to maintain the spirit of enthusiastic work and their non-stop devotion. Thank you to everyone who has chosen to dedicate your talents and enthusiasm to education in the midst of so many vibrant, crowded, and exciting fields today.

Congratulations to IEDG on its 19th birthday, and thank you to all the IEDGers for being an integral part of the company’s day-to-day evolution!
