“I’m looking forward to what the future has to offer for me at WASS”

How did you know about WASS? What made you decide to become a teacher of WASS?

After I finished my TEFL, a friend told me about an international school here in HCMC that allowed students to learn German. I immediately applied and was invited to an interview. After convincing the CEO of the school, Dr. Rung, that I could be an asset, I met Ms. Huyen from the German department. Not only the staff of IEDG but also the teachers, many were new as well, were very friendly and helpful right from the beginning. I recognized that this could be a place I could imagine myself working long-term.

January 8th, 2022 is a special day for you and IEDG as it marks your 5th anniversary of teaching here. Could you share your impression on the first day you came to WASS 5 years ago? How did you feel about the Board of Directors’ welcome, the sharing of your colleagues, and the openness of the students at WASS?

I actually started working for IEDG in August 2017, but I still remember my first day very well. I was told to participate in a student’s closing ceremony. I never took part in anything like that, so I was excited about the opportunity to hand out diplomas and share some encouraging words with the students. Afterward, everyone involved in the ceremony went out for lunch and we had some time to get to know each other. The next day, we prepared course outlines for the upcoming year and met the rest of the staff. Looking back, I met some of the most remarkable people at IEDG.

AT IEDG, we hope that all the members will find their passion and motivation for long attachment to the school. Could you share with us your future plans? Will WASS be your second home at which you will stay for a long term?

I plan to stay longer at WASS and try to make myself as useful as possible. I like working as a teacher but also a part of the management team as the Head of Science for the primary level and look forward to what the future has to offer for me at WASS.

What do you think about the growth of IEDG in recent years? Do you think that 2022 will be the year with new achievements of IEDG in international education investment?

Since I started in 2017, the company grew immensely, not only in size but also in reach. IEDG acquired several accreditations, allowing students to choose a path that best fits their needs and prepares them adequately for their future path in life. I only expect that this will continue in the following years.

Who do you appreciate or admire the most at IEDG and why?

It might sound cheesy, but I admire our principal Mr. Stephen Zahra the most. He is one of the nicest and most hard-working people I have ever met. He works tirelessly to make this school better for everyone working here and always takes time out of his busy schedule to listen and support his teachers.

Could you tell us your most unforgettable memory or event at WASS?

In my first year at IEDG, I was responsible for a class of around twenty students that wanted to achieve the B1 level in German to be able to relocate to Germany to get an education as a caretaker there. All of my students succeeded and some of them were able to extend their stay and live now permanently there. I am still in contact with some of them and love to see how they created a better future for themselves.
